Introducing The Scribbler’s Challenge: My Blog Writing Project! (+ Sign-Ups! Deadline Jul. 19) *cue excited screaming*

Who has been waiting two months to announce this project???

NOT MEEEEEE BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE WEIRD.

You guys have heard me talking about this mysterious “blog writing project”, but now I can FINALLY REVEAL EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, including its name!

Introducing… The Scribbler’s Challenge!

I’m not expecting many people to sign up, because 1) I’m not that famous (yet), and 2) this isn’t THAT amazing. WHATEVER THO. I’M DOING THIS.

EEK I’M SO EXCITED AND I COULD SCREAM AND JUMP AND SQUEAL BUT I’LL JUST GET ON WITH THIS POST AND RESTRAIN MYSELF. I’m so kind omg.

THE W’S OF THE SCRIBBLER’S CHALLENGE?

WHAT: A feedback-based challenge where you are to write responses to prompts and receive feedback on them.

WHEN: Saturday, August 5, to Monday, September 4. (BUT August 5 – 6 will be talking, and September 1 – 4 will also be discussing. So it’s not NECESSARY… but highly highly suggested???)

WHERE: Through email. (So you will DEFINITELY need an email for this.)

WHO: Anyone and everyone who loves to write or would like to try! Whether you’re new to writing, been writing a long time, or just SPONTANEOUSLY DECIDED TO WRITE (because of this amazing project), you can participate!

WHY: Ugh why so nosy. Because I wanted to do a blogging project related to writing and get closer to taking over the world be extremely helpful to people like I always am. (I also want to help young and old, experienced and inexperienced writers grow and get better!)

HOW WILL THIS REALLY WORK?

Basically, you’ll be given a prompt, which you must write a response for. You’ll have a critique partner/group (based on your preferences) who will give feedback on what you wrote, and you’ll give feedback as well.

There will be about six prompts, and then at the eeeeeend, you’ll receive all the feedback from the month and get to discuss it!

And there will be winners. And prizes. Wait for it.*

ALSO I will be adding some of my own feedback into there (though not for every. single. one. because #lazy).

I’ll be emailing all the participants with more details later. (It’s like 1K words and I’d rather not bombard anyone right now???)

Note that this will go by QUITE fast. At least imo.

*Unintentional Hamilton reference whoop whoop I am proud.

RULES AND OTHER THINGS

Yes, rules. Otherwise you will be uncivilized monkeys running around and throwing bananas everywhere and uhm no.

things that might concern you:

  • You need a valid email address that you can share. (NO EXCEPTION.)
  • I need to know your time zone. (IDK why this would be a problem because time zones are HUGE???)
  • I need to know your age range (10 & younger, 11-13, 14-18, 18-26, 26-31, 31+).

If for some reason you cannot tell me one of these things, please let me know and I’ll see what we can do. (Except for email because THIS IS TAKING PLACE THROUGH EMAIL HOW ELSE WOULD THIS WORK WITHOUT YOUR EMAIL???)

rules:

  • No blog needed to participate!
  • You must be willing to give and receive feedback for your writing.
  • You must be kind to each other, and criticize constructively and without rudeness. This also goes for receiving feedback—don’t shun that person for giving you feedback that you don’t like!
  • You will commit as much as you can and do your best. If you’re not going to give the best feedback you can, that’s not really fair to your partner/group now, is it???
  • You must know how to write in English. (Since I can’t read any other language HAHA. But if you include some non-English phrases in your entries, that’s fine.)
  • If you’re younger than 13, I advise you to ask your parents before joining! You’ll be communicating with some people that you may or may not know.
  • You must be following my blog!!!

I know, that last one. Selfish. But honestly if you’re taking part in my writing project and aren’t following, that’s sort of weird??? (And if you can’t follow through WordPress, you can always follow through email. *wink wink*)

I NEED TO KNOW THE PRIZES, MAY???

Of course you do. Of course you do.

There will be only two winners and NO runner-ups. (I’m 99% sure I will regret this later.) The two categories I’ve chosen are overall best writing (what I enjoyed the most, what I liked, strong writing, etc.) and overall best feedback (feedback that was detailed, helpful, and kind, etc.)

Overall best writing

  • Guest post on my blog
  • Free design elements like header, button, sign-off, etc. (up to three)
  • Writing featured on my blog (in the guest post)

Overall best feedback

  • Guest post on my blog
  • Free design elements like header, button, sign-off, etc. (up to three)
  • Extra feedback on your entries

IF YOU HAVE ANY PRIZE IDEAS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW BECAUSE THESE ALL SUCK.

LAST THOUGHTS

If you could spread the word through social media, that would be SOOOOO appreciated! I have NO social media whatsoever (*cue tears*), so I can’t let anyone know about it except through my blog. I would be FOREVER (and everly) IN YOUR DEBT if you shared this on Twitter, Pinterest, and other social media!!! <333

Also, I’ll be making little “buttons” for all the participants if you’d like one.

There’s also going to be a wrap-up posted, where I announce the winners and share some writing advice (which is why that’s in the sign-up form).

Um… final thoughts, let’s see… Well, pretty much everything I need to know will be in the Google Form. The sign-up form is essentially how I pair you up with your partner/group, so be sure to answer to the best of your ability!

So yeah! Make sure to ask me ANY questions you have! There’s… a lot on the form. Which is why you must ask me questions so I can clarify everything for yooooooou.

(Except I’ll be off watching Wonder Woman for part of the day so I may not get to answer your questions right away??? BUT IT’S WONDER WOMAN OKAY.)

I’m super psyched for this! Hope you guys will enjoy it and that this won’t be a huge flop.

(Also, please don’t feel pressured to sign up if you don’t want to/can’t! Just because I SAY you have to sign up doesn’t mean you HAVE to. I know. It’s confusing.)

HOW CAN I SIGN UP?

Through…

THIS LOVELY FORM!

You must sign up by Wednesday, July 19th, to participate in this project. If you don’t, you will not be able to take part in Scribbler! (Some situations will be considered, though, like death. Or murder. And funerals.)

This leaves enough time for people to sign up, but then I can get started right away with pairing you guys up. (And BOY will that be hard.)

I’ll also be including little reminders on each of my posts, up until the deadline, so you won’t forget. 😉

ALSO: Please please PLEEEEASE read all the tiny text in the form because it offers explanation on how to answer the question. And if I don’t make sense in those description, shoot me with all your questions!!!
