The #1 thing you should know about me is that I suck at keeping track of blog tags.
I KNOW I KNOW. I’m horrible. People take the time to tag me or nominate me for an award (!!!) and I just… forget.
But seriously, unless you pingback me, I will likely forget that you’ve tagged me for something??? And I probably won’t remember your pingback either, unless you pingback my About page oops.
HOWEVER! I was going through the comments/pingbacks of said About page, in search for a nice tag to do because WHY NOT, and I found this one!
The lovely Beth @ Reading Every Night tagged me for The Book Blogger Insider Tag, and I remembered being super excited when I read her post, because 1) her answers were awesome, and 2) THE TAG LOOKED COOL.
And this month, it seems like my theme has been sharing my secrets (about my post-planning and -writing process, and my secrets for success), so why not carry on with this tag???
So today, I’ll be sharing some insider information on my (book) blogging life by answering the questions of the tag. I promise you’ll learn things you NEVER knew about me before.
Thank you sooooo much to Beth again, and please, check out her blog! It is amazing and she is one of my very close blogging friends. <333
RULES
- Answer the questions below.

- Tag at least five people.
- Have fun!
where do you typically write your blog posts?
At my computer???
I honestly don’t know. My computer used to be downstairs in the dining room, but then I moved it upstairs??? Now I don’t have an actual chair but a beanbag, which is COMPLETELY fine with me.
I also sometimes write my blog posts on my phone in the Notes app, but that’s on the occasion that I didn’t write it on the computer because I was procrastinating. (Which is actually quite a lot of the time???)
Anywhere where I have access to something I can write on basically. I’m quite flexible.*
*Watch me do them splits yo.
how long does it generally take you to write a book review?
I honestly don’t know??? It’s never taken me more than 30 minutes to write a review, though I think I’ve come close to it.
But I’m honestly just waiting for that ONE DAY where I hate a book so much that I just have to rant forever about it. :’)
when did you start your book blog?
January 22, 2017! So I’ve been blogging for a little over… 8 MONTHS NOW WOW OMG. It seems so long yet so short??? 4 MORE MONTHS TILL A YEAR GASP.
But actually, I’d wanted to start a blog since late December, so it took me a month of preparing and just overall being unconfident until I FINALLY made my blog.
what is the worst thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
Oh, definitely how much time and effort it takes. You know what bloggers have to do??? They have to WRITE posts, COMMENT on posts, ANSWER comments, and much more. It just takes so much tiiiiiiime.
I take at least an hour and a half to write and format my posts. And then commenting on posts? That takes a while too, especially if you follow lots of blogs. (And you have to do it EVERY DAY.)
And answering comments! I LOOOOOVE getting comments on my posts, but when you have a lot, that means you have a lot to type up replies to, WHICH TAKES TIME.
Add that plus school and homework and dance and piano and reading and writing, and I’m 1) out of time, 2) stressed, and 3) wanting to crawl into a hole and rot there forever because why @ life.
what is the best thing about having a book blog in your opinion?
DEFINITELY THE COMMUNITY. The community is absolutely WONDERFUL, and it’s what makes blogging worth it!
I know that on Goodreads, there are (A LOT OF) trolls and haters, but in the blogosphere??? THEY’RE PRACTICALLY NONEXISTENT. Everyone here is kind, sweet, supportive, and, when disagreeing with someone, polite.
Plus, I’ve made some AMAZING friends in these eight months of blogging! And any comments I get, short or long, means SO much to me because wow you actually want to talk to ME??? Talk about #FLATTERED.
I would name some friends I’ve made buuuut I’ve made so many. :’) I’m such a friendly person omg!!!
what blog post have you had the most fun writing so far?
Look, I barely remember what I wore yesterday* so how am I expected to remember the posts I wrote???
Um, well the Get to Know Me Tag was really fun to do, and I also enjoyed writing/ranting about diversity in books. Writing about my post-planning/-writing process was actually super fun as well.
Oh! I definitely enjoyed answering the questions for my 6-month blogiversary Q&A, and celebrating my 6-month blogiversary was very fun as well… (I mean I’M CELELBRATING HERE how could it not be fun???)
Also if you don’t click on these posts immediately all my looking-at-fetus-May suffering will have been for NOTHING.
*Okay so maybe not because my SCHOOL HAS UNIFORMS UGH but yeah don’t expect me to remember what I’m wearing RIGHT NOW.
what is your favorite type of blog post to write?
OH THIS IS EASY. I love love LOVE writing discussions! There’s something so enjoyable about writing about a topic that others can discuss with you. I love talking about my opinion*, and I also love hearing YOUR opinions!
Plus discussions open up a lot of interaction, and tbh I live for that interaction. (I live a sad life.)
Oh, and I also loooooove lists. I might have an obsession with them. But seriously they’re so great??? You LIST things and then you elaborate and it’s just lots of fun. :’) Sometimes I feel like I do too many lists??? But no that is impossible.

*Haughty much, May.
when do you typically write?
Well, my posting schedule is Mon/Wed/Sat, so I have to start writing the posts one or two days before it’s posted. At least I should.
I normally write my posts during the day (on the weekends), in the evening (on weekdays), or late at night (…everyday). THE LATE AT NIGHT ONE ISN’T A VERY GOOD DECISION, thus why I am getting less than 8 hours of sleep.*
I just write whenever, okay??? As long as I post it on the assigned day, I’m good. Like I said, I’m VERY FLEXIBLE.
*It sounds like a lot, but I need at least 9 to fully function and do I get that??? No.
do you review every book you read?
Yes I do! I used to write short lists for some of the books I read, but now I just want to write full reviews because 1) it’s fun once you get going, and 2) I can actually REMEMBER THE BOOKS I READ!!!
Unless I write the review like… three weeks after I read the book. This is currently me PLEASE HELP OMG.
Also this is probably not wise of me to review all the books I read??? Because Time I hath not seeneth. BUT LIKE WHATEVER.
how do you write your book reviews? with a cup of coffee or tea? with netflix? cuddled with your fur baby?
I’m a sad little Maychild and I just write book reviews without anything special.
when do you write your book reviews? right after finishing the book? two weeks after finishing the book?
AHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA WHAT A GREAT QUESTION.
I used to write reviews right after I finished the book or later that day, but now… it’s like two/three weeks after I’ve read the book that I FINALLY force myself to write the review.
Want a pro tip??? DON’T BE ME.
Seriously, review the book as soon as you can. Especially if you have a horrible memory like me !!! Because you will regret it if you DO NOT WRITE THE REVIEW IMMEDIATELY. You’ll procrastinate and forget the book and it turns into this huge endless cycle.
Currently I have six reviews I need to write and yikes why did I do this to myself. SO MANY REGRETS.
how often do you post?
Three times a week! Like I said, I post Mon/Wed/Sat (for the people who didn’t know that yet smh why aren’t you a stalker). I honestly might tone it down just for school because I’ve totally forgotten how to balance school with blogging WHOA.
But I don’t know I just really like my posting schedule??? I’m weirdly fascinated with it. I love it. I will actually marry it one day. Someone please make me normal.
I TAG…
- May @ My 1st Chapter (the other, rood May fake)
- Emma @ Emma Reads Too Much (the Alice stan)
- Elise @ The Bookish Actress (the Pynch stan)
- Ilsa @ A Whisper of Ink (the ice cream lover)
- Ju(lianna) @ Blots of Ink and Words (the m8 who needs to post)
- Jackie @ Too Much of a Book Nerd (the jacket who needs to read SOC)
- Marie @ Drizzle and Hurricane Books (the sweetest blogger)
- Michelle @ The Writing Hufflepuff (the really aesthetic one)
- Analee @ Book Snacks (the chocolate hoarder)
- Madeline @ A Paper Reverie (the other aesthetic one)
- Amelie @ Scary Pear (the wife <3) [btw that note about me marrying my blogging schedule was FAKE okay]
These are just some people who I’ve recently followed (and because I’m getting stricter with that, there aren’t that many), along with some close friends of mine whose answers I’d love to see! Aka DO IT OR ELSE.
But if I didn’t tag you and you want to do it, please feel free to! Just because I didn’t tag you doesn’t mean you can’t do it. :))

Best thing about having a blog: When I have something to post.
Worst thing about having a blog: When I don’t have something to post (because I’m in a never-ending writer’s block ugggghhhhhhh even with Scribbler’s Challenge… such misfortune has befallen me…)
Oh and yes of COURSE this is a food blog!!! All that talk about mangoes???? xD
Nice post, May!

Best thing about having a blog: I don’t want to sound unoriginal, but I TOTALLY agree that it’s the fabulous community – everyone is so kind! Also, I adore this kind-of proud feeling I get after publsihing a post! Ahhh – it IS SO satisfying! 😍😍
Worst thing about having a blog: Probably not having enough time to write much posts, read other bloggers posts, comment, answer to comments and all that! You’re right – blogging is definitely time consuming and takes a lot of effort…but it’s worth it, right? 😂😂
Yessss – it’s a food blog and a book blog and a lifestyle blog and all types of blogs! 🙈🙈 I currently want to devour a plate of chocolate fudge cake! Mmmmm – delicious! 😋😋 #hungry #dreams #food

The best thing about having a blog is definitely completing the posts I have planned, lol! I’m a big scheduler and feel a desperate need to keep to it… which is NOT always successful but I’m working on it… I thought I wrote reviews fast but under 30 minutes is really good… And I won’t even say how long a post takes me to setup and write, lol… ❤ Fun seeing you do a tag May!! It would be cool to see you do a book tag too someday 🙂 I'm sure others besides me would like to know obscure books you love, lol…

Yes, completing the posts is definitely a great feeling! WHAAAAT HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE FOR ~YOU~ TO WRITE REVIEWS??? Ahaha posts take so long to write… Oh, I should definitely do a book tag one day if you’re wondering ehat books I read! 😂

Great answers for this tag May, I loved reading them and learning more about your blogging life and schedule! I am totally in awe of how much you have to get done in a day, and the fact that on top of school and dancing and piano you manage to blog as well. Seriously how do you get it all done? Also how do you write your reviews in 30 minutes? I need to know your secrets. 🙂
It feels like you should have been blogging longer than eight months, seriously your blog is amazing, and the community is definitely the best part in my opinion as well.
Again great answers for this tag! 😀 ❤

I’m in awe of myself too! 😂 I honestly don’t know how I manage it… I sacrifice quite some sleep at times so I guess that’s my secret? 😜 OMG IS 30 MINUTES SHORT??? I actually don’t know if that’s accurate but it SEEMS about right. I’m a fast typer too haha. 😂
AWW THANK YOOOU. :’) It feels like I’ve been here for longer than 8 months, yeah!

I like to think of myself as a fast writer, but it still takes me a long time to write some of my posts. I think the longest is two hours but that’s my Reading Around the World posts and that’s just because of the photo editing side of things.
That’s all right, here’s hoping you’ll be here for much longer as well. 🙂 ❤

I feel like it’s a blogger rule to be bad at keeping track of tags lol. I have tags from 2015 that I still haven’t gotten around yet *hides in shame*
That Ronaldo (? That’s Ronaldo right? Anyway the football player going ‘WHY’ with his hands) is an accurate representation of all bloggers everywhere. It has to be. WHO IS ABLE TO COMBINE BLOGGING WITH ALL THE OTHER STUPID RESPONISBILITIES FLAWLESSLY. If someone like that exists they need to offer a class. Seriously.
Omg yes definitely write reviews ASAP. I posted a review sometime last year that was completely USELESS because I didn’t remember anything and I just added that ‘I tried’ star fdsjfd

This was such a fun post to read – but all of your posts are fun to read, May, because you’re fantastic.
I am SUCH a procrastinator – do you write this word like this? I’m not sure. If not, forgive me – when it comes to writing book reviews. I read too quickly and don’t have time to write my thoughts on the day I finish a book, except if it’s on a weekend, and…I am also very lazy and I tend to write book reviews weeks after, which is NOT GOOD but I don’t know how to do it another way ahah.
Best thing about having a blog is obviously the community, worst thing is that this is a wormhole taking ALL OF YOUR TIME.

ooh thanks for tagging me!! this was so much fun to read! i’ll most definitely be doing this tag! (and thank you for calling me aesthetic <3) i would say the worst part of being a book blogger is either having nothing to post or the freaking formatting on blogger ARGH. the best part is of course the wonderful community!! i totally agree with what you said about everyone being so kind in the blogosphere (maybe it's the fact that we all devote so much time to our blogs that eliminates the mean-ness??) oh and book reviews! i either write a hundred page thesis about a book or don't write anything at all lol. there's really no in between oops.
