About Me and My Blog

Hi there!!

I’m May (she/her), a Thai teen book blogger and reviewer, and I love reading to escape the prison of existence! I’m an enthusiast for QPOC, sapphics, and morally grey girls in books, but beyond reading, I enjoy writing, dance, language, and music. On my blog you should expect to see me talking about books, diversity & representation, and, every once in a while, my writing!

  • I’m Thai (born and live in the US), and if you hate Thai food, you’re wrong.
  • I’m bisexual/queer and use she/her pronouns!
  • I’m an avid reader of Young Adult books, though I do read from Middle Grade and Adult, and I read mainly diverse books.
  • I love to write, though you’ll probably find me not writing, unfortunately. I usually write in the fantasy genre, and also make an attempt at poetry!
  • I play the piano and the drums, and I’m learning French, Spanish, and Thai. Yes, I am sadly a nerd!
  • I’m currently a high school student, so you can accurately assume that at any given moment I am stressed out.
  • I’m very introverted and use humor as a shield a little too often!!

  • On my blog, you can find book lists, book reviews, discussions, helpful guides, and more!!
  • I mainly focus on Young Adult books, as well as diverse books, because they make up most of what I read.
  • I’ve been blogging since January 2017, and I’ve loved it ever since! (Most of my 2017 posts are privated now, because I cannot handle the idea of anyone looking back and seeing how embarrassing I was.)
  • You may know me for my love for mangoes, my overuse of parentheses, my passion for Asian books, or hosting the Book Blogger Awards!
  • When you see “the Mango Queen demands your opinions” as the comment prompt… look away. I regret every single thing 2017 me did on this blog, and the option to change it has disappeared. This is my one shame.
  • I’m open to working with authors and publishers: You can contact me here.

  • Hobbies: reading, writing, dance, learning new languages, playing musical instruments
  • Book genres: fantasy and contemporary
  • Music: Wallows, Cage the Elephant, Rina Sawayama, Lorde, Hozier
  • TV shows: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Criminal Minds, One Day at a Time, The Good Place

  2. Hi May! I just discovered your blog and we really do have a lot in common! I’m Asian (Indian), I think Thai food’s the BEST, reading is huge in my life, I love Rick Riordan, and I’m also going through some tough times 🙂
Your blog made my day. I hope you liked my (newbie) blog just as much as I like yours!

  3. Hi, May! I just came across your blog and LOVE it! Your post writing style is so awesome and the design is gorgeous! It’s sooooo nice to meet another mango lover (they’re the absolute best 😀 ), and I really like YA contemporary as well. And I can definitely relate…I love writing but most of the time you can find me *not* writing and basically procrastinating everything.

Anyways, I’m totally looking forward to more posts from you! 💛💛

  5. Hello! I just want to say that I love your blog so much, and it’s super cool to see other Asian teenagers/high schoolers who are my age in book blogging!! You are definitely one of my favorite people in the bookish community, and you have been such an amazing influence on what I do. Even though we are in the same grade, you seem so much more intelligent and older, and I really admire you! If I ever met you in real life, I would not know what to do or say. I hope this community lasts a long time because you are an amazing part of it, and you should revel in your fame.
