I love books that go beyond my expectations.
I mean, who doesn’t?? It means a lot tp ME, because usually, books end up being worse than I expected and I get hit by disappointment like no other.
But this time… IT WAS THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
I liked these books better than I thought I would??? Surprise!!
Girl Made of Stars was one of my most anticipated releases of the year (I saw that my request had been accepted at school and struggled not to scream) and it was even better than I had imagined. So SO GOOD.
And I honestly didn’t expect much out of Isle of Blood and Stone besides an average fantasy (especially since the beginning was slow) but it ended up surprising me and being much more entertaining than I’d suspected!!!

I don’t usually read contemporaries. So then they all decided to attack me.
I first thought contemporaries were all drama-y and not that interesting to read. (Save the school drama for school please.)
But actually, contemporaries are smol little beings that 1) are unique in style and voice, 2) talk about and address modern issues, and 3) are almost always deep and meaningful. Meaning not your school drama type of book.
So after realizing this, of course I have to go and read some fantastic contemporaries.

I either insult myself, or praise myself. I can’t decide which is better.
In this case, my weakling brain is quite weak. A lot of these books (three) confused me: Do I like it? Do I hate it? DO THE MANGOES APPROVE? But all of these books had some strange component. Which is fitting.
I’m super excited to do this post because I’ve been wanting to review a book on my blog for some time now, and although I won’t have as much room to rant and/or fangirl, I get to review more than one book! In fact, all of my February reads. Which is like five, as you learned in my MMM post.
But guys, look! I accomplished one of my goals; I took a booky pic!
