My Late, Last-Minute, Ambitious The Stay Home Reading Rush TBR! + Mini Tag

This post can be entirely blamed on May @ My 1st Chapter, who I hate a lot for roping me into this.

I don’t usually participate in many readathons, because I’m a very big mood reader, in terms of both the books I want to read and also when I actually want to read! And though I was interested in the Reading Rush from last year, I didn’t care much for this year’s Stay at Home prompts.

But May convinced me that it’s just a readathon to read as much as possible while staying at home, and I don’t have to do the prompts, so… here I am!! Posting a TBR for a readathon that started yesterday. (It’s FINE I am completely on top of things.)

but Yes, i am here writing a post? that is not just a wrap-up? which is something i’m choosing to be proud of right now. and i really wanted to finally make my official sign-up (and update!) post for the year of the asian reading challenge, 2020 edition!

My August TBR, aka Books My Friends Have Yelled at Me to Read (I’m Finally Listening to Them)

I’m quite horrible at sticking to TBRs.

I’m very much a mood reader, and especially now that I’m going through a bad reading slump. However! I’ve been planning a month like this, where I read several of the books my friends have made me want to pick up, and August was the month I randomly decided on, so here’s my TBR for it!

It’s not a very long TBR, because these are the only books that I know I’ll be able to get a copy of (I have plenty more books people have been yelling at me to read, it’s terrifying). And I also go back to school on August 8 so [zoom in on my unamused face] I will die if I read too many books.

It’s Pride Month and Unsurprisingly I Have an All-Queer Book TBR to Celebrate!!!

Pride month is upon us!!

I mean, I’m pretty much just sticking to only queer books this month to celebrate, but it’s not like I’m doing anything different for it, seeing as I read a huge amount of queer books already. But might as well make it official with a post and all!!

For once in my life I actually made a realistic TBR for myself and I am genuinely excited to read all the books I have on here! (Especially one in particular…)

Beyond the official 7 books in my TBR, I know I’m also probably going to read some queer webcomics because I love them so much. I also expect that I’m still going to have more time to read so I have a small list of books at the end that I might get around to as well, depending on time/mood/accessibility!!

(Also props to me for including a MG, NA, and adult book each in my TBR?? YA who.)

It’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and I Have an All-Asian Book TBR to Celebrate!!!

The month of May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

My name is May. I am Asian. This was a month ma(y)de specifically for me.

(Just kidding my real name isn’t May at all so this isn’t even valid.)

It’s to no one’s surprise that I will be celebrating Maysian month (I am so sorry) by reading Asian books. It’s the perfect combination of things I love, my Asian identity and books!!

Though there are many Asian-related reading challenges to celebrate (Asian Lit Bingo and Asian Readathon, to name a few), I want read books I’m in the mood for, especially since I’m still recovering from a slump. I’m not going to put a lot of pressure on myself to read all these books, since to me it doesn’t matter what specific books I read, just that I read Asian books!

Also, thank you to the various people who got me copies of many of these books. It really shows the kindness of this community (but also how broke I am)!

Note: I definitely am being overambitious, and my reasons are 1) it was (and is still) very East-Asian-centric before I added more books, and I want to have more non-East Asian options, and 2) three of these books I’ve read ~100 pages of and had to put on hold lmao.
